As we start coming out of lockdown and returning to the workplace, we understand that some businesses will need different support to the usual recruitment service we provide to them. HR advice and guidance has always been something we have in our toolkit, as Keith is an experienced and fully qualified HR Expert who works not just in the local area but with businesses all across the UK, so we have the ability and expertise to help if you are struggling with how to manage these difficult situations.
Preparing For A Return To Work
As an employer you have a duty of care and must make sure the workplace is safe as possible for your staff, customers and anyone else who may need to visit.
Your first step is to do a ‘risk assessment’ to identify what might cause harm and take reasonable steps to prevent it. You’ll need to identify what work activity or situations might cause transmission of the virus and think about who could be at risk. Think about the practical measures you can take such as putting in place social distancing measures, having staggering shifts or perhaps providing additional hand washing facilities.
Changes To Contracts of Employment
As an employer you can make a change or ‘variation’ to an employment contract if there’s something in the contract that allows the change – usually called a ‘flexibility clause’ – and the employee agrees to the change.
Such terms and conditions could include varying hours and pay. It’s important to remember that even though an employer may have the right under a contract of employment to vary terms and conditions, they must be reasonable in the way they exercise that right.

Outplacement Service and Career Coaching
As a member of TEAM The Employment Agencies Movement, we work with Wagstaff Career Coaching to provide outplacement services for redundancy situations. We understand that for each business the support needs to be tailored to fit both you and your people and so the outplacement services can be delivered through group workshops, or via one-to-one coaching.
If you need help or support with any of these issues or are struggling with an HR issue then please call us on 01722 334433 for a confidential discussion.
